There are many universities in Budapest that offer degree programs for foreigners, some of which have only recently opened, such as the MOME for Art and Design. The most famous from a German perspective are Semmelweis (medicine) and Andrassy (social sciences). Here is the complete list, also available as a map below.

  • Corvinus University of Budapest: A university in Budapest that focuses primarily on business administration, economics and social sciences. The university currently has around 9,600 students and offers courses in Hungarian and English. It was founded in 1948 and is named after the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus.
  • Obuda University: A technical university in Budapest that was founded in 2000 as Budapest Tech and merged three polytechnic institutes. It offers degree programs in the fields of engineering, computer science, economics and health sciences. It is also known for its research in the fields of cyber security, robotics, automation and health informatics.
  • Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary is a Christian university in Budapest, founded by the Reformed Church in Hungary. The university was named after Károli Gáspár, the Calvinist pastor who prepared the first complete Hungarian translation of the Bible in 1590. The university was founded in its current form in 1993, but has its roots in 1839. The university has four faculties and offers courses in theology, humanities, law and teacher training. The university also has international partnerships with other Christian universities and participates in various exchange programs.
  • Tomori Pál College is a private higher education institution founded in 2004 in the small town of Kalocsa. In recent years, most of its teaching activities have been concentrated in Budapest. After a period of dynamic growth, the college has established branches in Budapest and Kecskemét. The college offers courses in the fields of economics, social sciences and healthcare. The College’s main aim is to provide higher education opportunities for talented children from less affluent families.
